"Dialogue - NME" is a reinterpretation of magazine covers from the former New Musical Express. Based on the Edmonton Journal by Hans Rudolf Lutz 1977, the project examines the effects of interventions in the written information. The overall messages and meanings of the covers, as well as their function, were changed by blacking out the content information. Comparable to a silent film, other characteristics are emphasised when language is omitted. The essay deals with the question of the extent to which we perceive images without context and additional information. To what extent do image, typography and font influence each other? The design concept of the brochure itself is based on the fundamental characteristics of human perception. Feeling, thinking, understanding.
"Dialog - NME" ist eine Neuinterpretation von Magazincovern des ehemaligen New Musical Express. Angelehnt an das Edmonton Journal von Hans Rudolf Lutz 1977, untersucht das Projekt die Auswirkungen von Eingriffen in die schriftlichen Informationen. Die Gesamtaussagen und Bedeutungen der Cover, sowie die Funktion wurde durch das Ausschwärzen der inhaltlichen Informationen verändert. Vergleichbar mit einem Stummfilm werden beim Verzicht auf Sprache andere Eigenschaften hervorgehoben. Die Abhandlung befasst sich mit der Frage, inwiefern wir Bilder ohne Kontext und zusätzlicher Information wahrnehmen. Inwiefern beeinflussen Bild und Typografie, sowie Schriftart sich gegenseitig? Das gestalterische Konzept der Broschüre selbst stützt sich auf die grundlegenden Eigenschaften der menschlichen Wahrnehmung. Fühlen, Denken, Verstehen.
